The Republic of Korea, more commonly referred to as South Korea, lies in East Asia where it accounts for the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Its only land border is with its northern neighbour, North Korea. South Korea’s landmass of 100,329 square kilometres is home to around 51 million people.
The capital city is Seoul.
The official language is Korean.
