Spain (the Kingdom of Spain/Reino de España) is situated in south-western Europe, mainly on the Iberian peninsula.
Spain has a population of some 46.44 million (as at Jan. 2016) and a landmass of 505,990 square kilometres. Its capital city, Madrid, has a population of 3.16 million (share of foreigners: 12.2%).
The official language is Spanish (Castellano). Regional languages are regarded as second official languages in the Autonomous Communities of the Basque Country, Galicia, Catalonia Valencia, Navarra and the Balearics.
